Remote KVM for the LinuxCNC system

What now, Fatty?

Got one of these Comet Pro wifi KVMs from GL-iNET

  • Quad core Cortex A53 SoC
  • 32GB eMMC flash
  • 1GB DDR3L Memory
  • Wifi 6
  • 4K graphics passthrough at 30fps
  • H.264 hardware encoding
  • Touchscreen(!)
  • 2 way audio
  • Optional "Fingerbot" robotic finger for remotely pressing the power button(!)

This allows you to fully control a remote PC running any OS, either on a local or remote network, including full audio, should you think that helpful.

But why?
Here's Dave to explain why you need one:

So I can sit at my desk to mess with my LinuxCNC system, load g code from my CAD workstation etc, rather than perch next to the lathe - or even edit the settings from inside the house:

FWIW, it supports Tailscale
  • Implements a peer-to-peer mesh network (known as a tailnet)
  • Perhaps more relevantly relevantly, a private VPN. Not much need for that in my current situation.
  • Free for up to 3 users and 100 devices
Works nicely - better than RealVNC which started charging for its product.
